Croatian Journalists Union President LAREG’s new Vice President

At the last meeting of the Labor Rights Expert Group of the European Union of Journalists, the president of the Croatian Journalists Union, Maja Sever, was elected vice-president of that expert group.

In the coming period LAREG decided to focus more and more strongly on collective bargaining, industrial action, organizing and employment, reaching out to young journalists, as well as talking about gender equality, especially the gender pay gap and men, sexual harassment, working conditions.

Andrea Roth has been elected LAREG president, while Dragana Pejović will be in charge of gender issues.

The meeting also concluded that the joint work of LAREG and UNESCO could be an excellent opportunity to exchange good practices on labor rights.

Improving workers’ rights at European Union level is an extremely important priority for the European Federation of Journalists, which represents more than 320,000 journalists from 71 organizations in 43 countries.

We would like to use this opportunity to invite you to get involved in this important topic with your suggestions, outlining the problems you encounter in your work, as well as examples of good practice in order to further enhance the labor rights of journalists in Croatia and Europe.
